The Masjid (tekke) of Sheh Emini

It is located at Big Market historic complex within the complex of Albanian League, branch in Gjakova, the section called Head if the Market. The Tekke (convent) was built in 18th century. It is a Tekke of SADI order; Sheh Emini is the builder, who was a lawyer (kadi), graduated in Turkey. Heir of the Tekke is Sheh Ruzhdi. The Tekke is characteristic for its traditional building technique. The building rests on ashlar stone foundations and ashlar masonry ground floor, the first floor has half-timbered walls with adobe brick infill; covered by a timber roof with significant overhung. Heavy ornamented walls and ceiling. The Ritual Hall (Semahane), which is on the first floor, is covered by a timber dome. It is originally built as a Tekke and still continues to be used as such.
