Hadumi’s Mosque

The historical compound of Hadumi’s Mosque is located at the core of the Grand Bazaar in the intersection between “Ismail Qamajli” and “Abedin Tërbeshi” street. The compound was built in 1585 (1001 according to hijra calendar), in 16th century, by Efendi Hadum Aga. The compound served as a sacred facility (mosque), and includes a maktab school for religious education. The compound of the mosque consists of the mosque, minaret, maktab, ablution facility, old cemetery and the library, which is one of the oldest in Kosovo. The mosque, the minaret and the library were built of ashlar. The cover of the mosque and the minaret were made of lead, while the cover of the library and the maktab were made of traditional tiles. Authentic interior decorations of the mosque and the library were conserved following the damage. The building suffered no transformation since its original construction.
